"Blogging"

I don't know who I am trying to start a blog but it'll be fun to see where it takes me. I tell very long winded stories so I'll do my best to keep this short.

My name is Katie, hence The Katie Marie Project.
Very clever, I know.
I'm calling this my project because I don't know what I'm doing and I'm a constant work in progress in general. I thought about a name for about a month and finally my husband said "just name it already!" so there you have it. Here I want to share with you all our journey to becoming an all natural & organic family. Although we do still cheat with some favorite foods. Who doesn't?!

Last June, 2012, Daniel and I found out we were pregnant. No it was not planned! But none the less very exciting. I'd been craving french fries quite frequently  night and day so of course Daniel went to pick some up. This time was different. He read the ingredients on the back of the frozen fries package and we haven't purchased a bag since. To our surprise potato was not the first ingredient, in fact it wasn't the second or third either but nearly half way down the list. Gross! So he came home with a frialator and a bag of POTATOES! This is when we started buying all of our groceries organic and/or natural from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.
YES! It is expensive at first.
YES! It is absolutely worth every penny.

Knowledge certainly is power. Sometimes too much but its better to know than not, I think.
The amount of chemicals in food these days is seriously alarming. Having a little one on the way we wanted to make sure we were doing everything we could to give him the best of the best. Call me crazy but that includes not eating combined chemicals for a meal in my book.

Like I said, long story short...

We brought our bundle of joy, Greyson Lucas, into the world on February 14, 2013.
Yep that's Valentine's Day, and we couldn't happier with our decision to live a more natural lifestyle. Not wanting chemicals in our food carries over to other areas of the house for sure. I'll have a post for each eventually with all of my recipes, ideas and rants.

Adios for now!
